Blessed Hope in Suffering
A Poem of Praise
by Kimberly Davis
As Jewish Israelites, we bear a burden
of Hashem’s laws and truth:
Hashem’s holy Torah—
righteousness’ only root.
The burden often brings pain
and suffering,
as the truth, we Jews proclaim.
The weight, too heavy,
for our earthly flesh,
yet, by Hashem’s power,
strength we gain.
Step by step, we press on towards the goal— The Finish and the glorious prize:
Our crowns of glory, Torah divine when we will behold our King with pure eyes.
Oh, the Holy Messianic Vision—This is our only blessed hope, which brings joy in the bleakest darkness;
To it, our faith’s tethered like a rope.
Pulling us through the murky shadows,The Light and Love of Hashem shine through.
Banishing our veils of fear, Hashem’s Torah is refocused in view:
The Truth of our Blessed Savior— Hashem, our Redeemer and King.
Guided by the light of His Torah, He is to whom our souls forever sing.
So, with adoration, we take the yoke of Heaven, and keep mitzvot without dread or fear. No matter the trials or suffering, for we know The Day of Hashem draws near.
For we know that each kept mitzvah brings us one inch closer to the day: the coming of moshiach, when peace will rule and Hashem will reign.
Oh, the blessed hope for freedom from captivity— No longer bound by woes of the world.
Oh, the blessed hope for eternal life and peace— when through mitzvot, Eden will be restored!
Am Yisrael Chai!
