1. Burnt Offering (From Herd): Bull (vv. 3 & 5)
Male
Without blemish
Slaughtered before the LORD.
Blood is dashed on all 4 sides of the altar.
2. Burnt Offering (From Flock): Sheep or Goat (v. 10)
Male
Without blemish
Slaughtered on the North Side of the altar
The blood of the animal is dashed on all 4 sides of the altar.
For the Heard or Flock offering, the dashing of the blood on all four sides of the animals is, again, like the Hebrew word for LIVE: chai. We have seen this before in the Pesach offering.
חַי
Here, Aaron (or the Priest) is like the Angel during Pesach.
The blood is like the blood on the doorposts, marking out the one bringing the offering for life.
3. Burnt Offering (From Birds): Turtledove or Pigeon (v.14)
No specified gender
The head is pinched off at the altar
The Blood is drained at the side of the altar.
The bird is torn open by its wings without severing the animal
The feathers are removed and cast in with the ashes at the East side of the altar.
