E. Hashem's Marriage Promise
This first marriage of Adam and Eve is an embodiment of sorts of the relationship between Hashem and His chosen people—yay, His chosen Bride—Israel, the Jewish people and the Jewish Nation.
In Genesis 2:22-24, we read that Hashem formed Havah, Adam’s wife, from one of Adam’s ribs. This means that while Adam was formed from dust (soil that was not watered by the supernatural mist of Hashem—Re: Day 3 of creation), Havah ("the mother of all living") was created from life: from marrow, bone, flesh, cartilage, and the myriads upon myriads of living cells within this rib of Adam’s.
We read that in creating man and women in this manner, that woman is the
“Bone of (man’s) bone, and flesh of (man’s flesh).”
Being bone of someone else bone means that though men and women are separate, they are but equal compliments that form one whole—Havah, the equal and opposite half to Adam, and likewise, Adam is the equal and opposite to Havah. For this reason of needing to unite the two parts to remake the one whole that was originally created,
“Man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, so that they become one flesh.”
The Promise of Hashem to Israel in The Marriage of Adam and Havah
This first marriage of Adam and Eve is an embodiment of sorts of the relationship between Hashem and His chosen people—yay, His chosen Bride—Israel, the Jewish people and the Jewish Nation.
To see this more clearly, take a look at a world map and find Israel. Out of all the land mass that Hashem has created, the nation of Israel is like a small rib, which Hashem has carved out and named as His own dwelling place, as well as the eternal dwelling place for His own people (the Jewish people and Jewish nation).
Like Eve, this promised land did not come from nothing.
In fact, if we read the Genesis account, the land that was promised to Abram was once the land that belonged to a distant relative, Ham. Ham was one of three sons of Noah. After the flood, Noah got drunk off of too much wine harvested from his own field. Ham rushed to uncover his father’s nakedness, while Noah’s other two sons (Shem and Japheth) turned their back and covered their father’s nakedness (Genesis 9).
Because of Ham’s sin, Hashem cursed his land and the land of his descendants, the Canaanites. Genesis 15:18-21
On that day יהוה made a covenant with Abram: “To your offspring I assign this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates—
the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
21 וְאֶת־הָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ וְאֶת־הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י וְאֶת־הַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֖י וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִֽי׃ {ס}
the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
Then Hashem said that for eternity, Ham would be the servant of Shem and Japheth (Genesis 9:25). Shem is the patriarchal lineage that gives rise to Abram, to whom the land of Ham was promised (Genesis 15).
From the dust of the cursed land of Canaan, Hashem would form His firstfruit nation, the Nation of Israel—His future wife and the wife of His Jewish people.
Indeed in Isaiah 54:4-5, Hashem declares about the land of Israel,
Fear not, you shall not be shamed;
Do not cringe, you shall not be disgraced.
For you shall forget
The reproach of your youth,
And remember no more
The shame of your widowhood.
For the One who made you—whose name is “ GOD of Hosts”—
Will espouse you.
The Holy One of Israel—who is called “God of all the Earth”—
Will redeem you.
Further in Isaiah 62:4-5 (JPS), Hashem declares about the land of Israel through the prophet,
Nevermore shall you be called “Forsaken,
Nor shall your land be called “Desolate”;
But you shall be called “I delight in her,”
And your land “Espoused.”
For GOD takes delight in you,
And your land shall be espoused.
As a youth espouses a maiden,
Your sons shall espouse you;
And as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
So will your God rejoice over you.
Thus, at the time of His choosing, Hashem will gather the Bride of His land and His own bride, the Jewish Israelite people from their “father and motherlands” (countries of origin) and He will plant us in the promised land eternally. Espoused with the Jewish Land, the land of Israel, the Jewish people will become one with our homeland, and one with our G-d, Hashem, whose presence will so impregnate the land that Zion will be called “Hashem our righteousness.” (Jeremiah 33:15-16).
Zion will be called “Hashem our righteousness.”
(Jeremiah 33:15-16).
When the branch of Jesse appears and Hashem returns to Jerusalem, Hashem's glory and righteousness will be so fully present that the holiness of Hashem will be all encompassing. Indeed, when the branch (moshiach) comes, as the waters that cover the sea, so the knowledge of Hashem will cover the entire earth (Habakkuk 2:14-16).
At that time, everyone will not only know Torah, but Hashem will ignite the spark of holiness inside every Jewish person and turn our hearts into righteous flames that burn only to live by His Torah. With our souls aflame for Torah, all Jewish people will therefore will live to love Hashem with all of our heart, mind, spirit, and strength.
Salvation Is Of Israel:
By this holy fire in our souls, Hashem will thereby cause us (His Jewish people) to keep His Torah and walk according to His ways, which will bring eternal world peace and prosperity (Isaiah 55; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Jeremiah 30).
Faithfully abiding by Torah, all Jewish people will be faithfully abiding by the marriage vows that Hashem sealed as covenants so many generations ago. Happy, Holy, and forever Hashem’s, Israel the Jewish people will exist in security as Israel the Jewish Nation for all eternity.
Like a rib taken from the dust, all our ancestors will arise from the earth. The dry bones will rattle, and sinew will be stitched back together (Ezekiel 37). Too, as promised Judah and Israel will be made one again, thus every Jewish man, woman, or child, ever lost from the "10 Lost Tribes of the Northern Kingdom" will be found by our loving Shepherd, Hashem (Ezekiel 34), and brought back to the Jewish faith (Ezekiel 37:15-28). Once found, gathered in to the Jewish Nation of Israel, Hashem will lead us (His Jewish people) eternally by streams of living water for His righteousness sake (Psalm 23).
In those days, the people of every nation will look upon Hashem and the miraculous wonders He will perform for the Jewish people and grab our hems and demand to come with us, for they can see that Hashem is for us (Zechariah 8:20-23).
Am Ysrael Chai!
